As a child, Ingrid Harrison fled to Stockholm with her parents to escape the Nazi occupation of her
homeland, Estonia. For five years she studied art at the Gothenbourg Institute where she was
considered something of a child prodigy. In 1951, she immigrated to Montreal, married and
produced two children. For some years her painting took second place to here family, but she
continued her studies at the Art School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
In 1974, she decided to devote herself entirely to painting, so she enrolled in Concordia
University program of Fine Arts where she studied with such notables as Patrick Landsley, John
Fox, Guido Molinaro and Marian Wagshal.
Ingrid paints the world around her and her love for her adopted home is evident in her work. She
shows the vitality and charm of Montreal in all her streetscapes. Ingrid captures the human and the
and vehicles in her paintings because she considers an urban scene to be inconceivable without
them.
