"I have always been drawn to the landscape I see in the far distance, while rejecting the once I am
standing in. My imagination fills the ambiguities created by space, with shapes and colours that
convey wholeness and rest. But, as I move toward this refuge it only recedes and remains unfulfilled.
I realize this is not about a physical location, so I am learning to stop the pursuit, stand in place, and
enter what I imagine it to be from here.
These paintings come from a sense of incompleteness or exile, and I work to make them everything I
long for. The miracle is that when the painting comes together just so, this promised land is realized, if
only for a moment."
